NaNo Reloaded
This fall I’m going to once again forsake my pride (and laziness) and try to be a novelist. I’m going to do it a bit differently this year. Instead of subscribing to the strict regimen of daily word bursts, striving merely for a word count, I’m going to focus on larger elements. I’d like to do a chapter a week. Not the tiny, blunt one and two page deals from The War Inside. I’m thinking each chapter can serve as a self contained short story.
Another change – I’m going to serialize the thing. I’ll put up the chapter once I finish it (and do a quick once-over editing).
If last year was all about cutting edge technology, real world controversies and the day to day problems of a tech-yuppie, this year is going to be vastly different. The premise – 500 years from now, when the vestiges of our current civilization have become archeology. Some sort of eco-apocalypse has returned the vast expanses of the America to what it was before colonization – uncharted wilds.
It’ll be an interesting journey, I’m excited. I’ve had the characters bumping around in my head for a few months now, and they want to get out on paper (or txt files). Look for the first chapter later this week.
